It was April 29, a special day for the little Susie. It was her seventh birthday. She was so excited that she couldn't sleep that night. She was thinking of the next day, the birthday party and the presents. She invited all of her friends.
In the morning she helped her mother in the kitchen to prepare the party. After lunch she set the table. She put name tags in front of the plates so that every guest might find his/her plate and glass. Then she was waiting for the first little guest.
It was two o'clock when the bell first rang. Her best friend has arrived with a big bunch of flowers. Then arrived the others, too – one by one. Susie got many presents: chocolates, books, toys and beautiful flowers. She was very happy. Twenty little children were waiting for the best part of a birthday party.
Then it has arrived: a big chocolate tort with seven candles on it. Susie's eyes were shining with joy; she was very proud of the big tort and she blew out the candles. She wished that every day had been her birthday.
After eating and drinking the children played, watched TV, sang songs and laughed a lot. They enjoyed themselves very much.
At six o'clock the children had to leave. Their parents were waiting for them. Susie
was sad a little bit because her birthday party has ended; but then she thought back on
the great afternoon she spent together with her friends and got happy again.

He woke up when the warmth of the first sunbeam touched him. He felt some particular itches in his nose for a while, then he sneezed. He had to open his eyes. "I must have caught a cold," he thought to himself.
A minute later he jumped out of the cave's muddy hole and shook the water out of his coat to help the sun in drying him. He suddenly started to run in order to forget what he had left behind. He wanted to forget all the human world, all the hatred he had had to face in it; but above all, he wanted to leave behind his owner who had always been beating and torturing him. He didn't want to remember even his name, Flea. He recalled how his owner had been laughing at him every time while uttering the name which he hated so much.
He was running and running without any stop or looking back, as if he wanted to escape from his fate. He was enraptured by the scenery around him and he felt a kind of perfectness and calmness when the dewy silken grass leaned over to his paws and when his shaggy tail was streaming in the wind.
He stopped dreaming at one stroke when his stomach began to indicate he was extremely hungry. He realized he hadn't eaten for nine or ten days already. He felt very dizzy and he had to stop for a while. As he was lying on the ground on the slope, he caught sight of a grazing rabbit. He gathered all his strength and began chasing it. He couldn't think of anything but that rabbit. After a half an hour's crazy running the prey disappeared. At that point the huge Alsatian dog lost all of his hopes and fell down unconsciously.
He came round on a yard of a little lonely house made of wood, in a forest on a mountain. He began devouring the milk from the bowl next to him.
On the eight night of his stay Jesse lay on the doormat guarding the house, the poultry
and the livestock that was sleeping in the cowshed. He was waiting for the morning when
his new master, the only precious one among all, would come out and go hunting together
with him.
